Wow it,s great to know what year we are currently in and so we are happy to state that according to the history and calendar of the  people of Israel we are in the year

5771 (2010-2011)

Please note that Israel has not adopted this calendar system while the majority of nations has done so.

The Gregorian calendar, also known as the Western calendar or the Christian calendar, is the internationally accepted civil calendar.[1][2][3] It was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII, after whom the calendar was named, by a decree signed on 24 February 1582, a papal bull known by its opening words Inter gravissimas.[4] The reformed calendar was adopted later that year by a handful of countries, with other countries adopting it over the following centuries. The motivation for the Gregorian reform was that the Julian calendar assumes that the time between vernal equinoxes is 365.25 days, when in fact it is about 11 minutes less. The accumulated error between these values was about 10 days when the reform was made, resulting in the equinox occurring on March 11 and moving steadily earlier in the calendar. Since the equinox was tied to the celebration of Easter, the Roman Catholic Church considered that this steady movement was undesirable.

The Gregorian calendar reform contained two parts, a reform of the Julian calendar as used up to Pope Gregory's time, together with a reform of the lunar cycle used by the Church along with the Julian calendar for calculating dates of Easter. The reform was a modification of a proposal made by the Calabrian doctor Aloysius Lilius (or Lilio).[5] Lilius' proposal included reducing the number of leap years in four centuries from 100 to 97, by making 3 out of 4 centurial years common instead of leap years: this part of the proposal had been suggested before by, among others, Pietro Pitati. Lilio also produced an original and practical scheme for adjusting the epacts of the moon for completing the calculation of Easter dates, solving a long-standing difficulty that had faced proposers of calendar reform.

The Gregorian calendar continued the previous year-numbering system (Anno Domini), which counts years from the traditional Incarnation of Jesus, and which had spread throughout Europe during the Middle Ages. This year-numbering system is the predominant international standard today.[6]

The Gregorian calendar modified the Julian calendar's regular cycle of leap years, years exactly divisible by four,[7] including all centurial years, as follows:

Every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 100; the centurial years that are exactly divisible by 400 are still leap years. For example, the year 1900 is not a leap year; the year 2000 is a leap year.[8]

In addition to the change in the mean length of the calendar year from 365.25 days to 365.2425 days (a difference of 10.8 minutes per year), the Gregorian calendar also dealt with the past accumulated difference between these lengths. Due mostly to this discrepancy,[9] between AD 325 (when the Roman Catholic Church thought the First Council of Nicaea had fixed the vernal equinox on 21 March), and the time of Gregory's edict in 1582, the vernal equinox had moved backward in the calendar, until it was occurring on about 11 March, 10 days earlier. The Gregorian calendar therefore began by dropping 10 calendar days, to revert to the previous date of the vernal equinox.

Because of the Protestant Reformation, however, many Western European countries did not initially follow the Gregorian reform, and maintained their old-style systems. Eventually other countries followed the reform for the sake of consistency, but by the time the last adherents of the Julian calendar in Eastern Europe (Russia and Greece) changed to the Gregorian system in the 20th century, they had to drop 13 days from their calendars, due to the additional accumulated difference between the two calendars since 1582.

LADIES FELLOWSHIP A meeting of the National Ladies Fellowship was held on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Cobbla chaired by Missionary Rose Williams of Williamsfield. The following are highlights from this meeting. (1) Representatives of 10 churches were present inclusive of one attending for the first time (Wilson Run). Five were unavoidably absent. (2) COUNSELLING - Qualified senior members to form a counselling group to work with the churches in providing counselling where need and train other members in this area. This came about as there was not enough interaction between the younger members (males and females) and their seniors where problem solving was concerned. These persons were Mssy. Robinson, Mssy Dawkins, Mssy. Rose Williams (Williamsfield) who would in turn train persons who would be responsible for assisting in solving problems, etc in their own assembly or who may even be called to assist elsewhere. A number of ladies present stated their interest in being trained. (3) ZONE LEADERS - Zone leaders were appointed for the next 6 months. (A) Sis Arlene Brown - Zone 1 comprising churches in Cobbla, Wilson Run, Jose Hut, Jackson Town and Maroon Town. (B) Missionary Byfield - Zone 2 comprising Elim, Leeds, Haughton, Williamsfield, Thorton and Barton (C) Sister Angela (Annie) Moseley - Zone 3 comprising St. Faith, Kingston, Mount Rosser and Seven Miles. Zone Leaders should be made aware of activities involving their respective zone assemblies in order that the national body can be notified and that there is no over-lapping of activities. (4) ROTATION SABBATHS - Visits will be made by representatives of the Churches in the respective Zones to the appointed churches on Ladies Sabbath which is on the 3rd Sabbath in each month. June - St. Faith, Haughton, Joe Hut July - Kingston, Maroon Town, Barton August - Wilson Run, Williamsfield, Seven Miles September - Leeds, Cobbla, Mount Rosser October - NATIONAL LADIES CONVENTION (Executive Committee members) November - Jackson Town, Thornton December - Elim It is expected that for December, a representative from each Church in the 3 zones will visit this branch. (6) DESIGNATED FAMILY DAY It was to be put the Executive Board that the 3rd Sunday in each month be designated FAMILY DAY@ as the church was lacking in social issues. If accepted, then churches in each zone would plan social and enjoyable events for that day. Ideas to be shared with other zones through the Zone Leaders. (7) CHAIN FASTING - The same schedule assigned to the churches for the Rotation Sabbath schedule would be used for the Chain fasting. This will start on Sunday - 7th June and go for a week for each church. It will end the week prior to Ladies Convention. Please ensure that this fasting chain is brought to the attention of all the ladies who are members of your assembly and it should not be broken. If a situation arises where the person assigned is not able to carry out her duty, she should notify the leader of the Ladies Fellowship who will ask someone else to replace the individual or she herself should take the spot. (8) LADIES CONVENTION - This year’s convention will be held at Haughton on SUNDAY, 18TH OCTOBER 2009. Each church is asked to contribute J$5,000 towards the cost of the tent, chairs, music, transportation, etc. Lunch will be available - chicken/fish - at a cost of J$350 each. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE LAST DATE FOR ACCEPTING LUNCH ORDERS WILL BE OCTOBER 10, 2009. After this date you are on your own. Kindly submit a list with the names of the members of your assembly who will be attending this Convention and at the same time take a copy (of this same list) with you on the Convention date as we will be having registration at the Convention. (9) VISIT TO MAROON TOWN - A visit is set for Maroon Town on the scheduled rotation Sabbath in July. However, only 2 or 3 ladies from each church is being asked to attend as the sanctuary can hold a limited number of persons. Please notify your Zone Leader, before the scheduled date, as to the names of the persons who will be attending. (10) FINANCE COMMITTEE - Mssy Williams made known the fact that a Finance Committee was being set up by the Executive Board. One of the items discussed was that Members would be asked to contribute J$100 per week which would reduce the fees paid by individuals for attendance at all the national events planned - National Convention, Ladies Convention, National Fasting, Annual General Meeting and National Youth Convention.
